The Top 5 Things To Bring to Your Newborn Session

Are you a new mom and preparing for your newborn session? If so, make sure you bring the following items with you! Your photographer will likely give you a list of what to bring as well, but in case they don’t, here are the top 5 things to bring to your newborn session.

#1 PACIFIER
Occasionally parents choose not to use a soother and if that is important to you, I will respect your choice. Sometimes babies just don’t take them or aren’t used to them. The reason I prefer to use them in a session is because at times it can be what makes the biggest difference when baby is posed and is ready for a picture, but stirs a little bit and needs a few seconds of sucking comfort. Rather than picking the baby up and starting all over with a pose, it’s always best to try a soother first. The studio is stocked with extra pacifiers just in case.

#2 DIAPERS AND WIPES
Need I say more? Extra wipes are always a good idea for those explosive situations, if you know what I mean. Expect to go through a couple of diapers while at your session.

#3 EXTRA FORMULA OR MILK
There is a lot of movement going on with baby during a newborn session and that can mean they are burning more calories than when being swaddled at home, hanging out in a swing or in your arms. Sometimes it takes just a little bit extra to soothe them between pose transitions.

#4 SPARE CLOTHES
Babies are undiapered for the majority of the session and some parents love a diaperless image when doing parent posing. It is highly likely your baby might relieve themselves right on you! For your comfort for the remainder of the session, I recommend an extra set of clothes so you can leave dry and comfortable.

#5 A GOOD ATTITUDE
Everyone knows that a portrait session can be STRESSFUL! Am I right? As moms we plan everything from start to finish and it’s easy to walk out the door feeling frustrated and anxious. I can assure you all be ok and baby will be much happier when picking up on those positive vibes instead of the negative ones. My best advice is to relax and enjoy this special moment of capturing your newest addition.
